Why the delivery truck crossed the center line has not been released. The Maryland State Police crash team is investigating and the agency has said the investigation is active and ongoing.

The driver of the delivery truck was identified as Antonio Jaquan Handy, 31, of Salisbury, Maryland. He was flown to a trauma center. His condition has not been released.

No charges have been filed. WMAR reports the case was referred to the Talbot County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges will be brought.

Bacorn served 36 years with the Denton Police Department, including six years as chief of police.

“The Town extends its deepest condolences to Chief Bacorn’s family and the members of the Denton Police Department,” the Town of Denton said.

Governor Wes Moore ordered Maryland flags lowered to half-staff. “Chief Bacorn embodied the meaning of serving others and dedicated his life to keeping communities safe,” Moore said.

Bacorn is survived by his wife, five sons, a sister, thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
