A Columbus police officer was hospitalized after a fleeing car crashed head-on into the officer’s cruiser during a high-speed pursuit in the Franklinton area.
According to Columbus police, an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser was following a light-colored sedan at about 1:38 a.m. and Columbus police were called in to assist in tracking the vehicle. A high-speed chase followed. At the intersection of West Broad Street and North Central Avenue the sedan crashed into a Columbus police cruiser.

The officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive, police said. The extent of the officer’s injuries has not been released.
The officer was later treated and released from the hospital, WSYX reported in an update on the afternoon of September 30.
Both the sedan and the police cruiser sustained heavy damage to the front ends of each vehicle.
Two people were arrested at the crash site. What charges they face has not been announced, and neither has been identified.
Whether any officer fired a weapon has not been released.
