A Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office drone team may have just made policing history.
An armed suspect barricaded himself inside a garage with a knife while deputies and SWAT surrounded the home. Instead of forcing an entry, a drone pilot flew a drone equipped with a magnet directly to the suspect and pulled the knife away.
No shots fired. No K9 deployment. No force.
As a former deputy sheriff with 20 years in law enforcement, I’ll admit it: I was skeptical. Then I watched the video.
This breakdown covers the footage, the tactics, and why drone technology may completely change how agencies handle barricaded suspects in the future.
