Roanoke Police Officer Critically Injured in Crash That Ended Highway 114 Motorcycle Pursuit; Oklahoma Man Charged

Incident: Sunday, September 20, 2026, just after midnight, Northlake, Texas. Reported by the Roanoke Police Department the same day, with the injured officer’s department releasing further detail on September 21 and a condition update on September 22.

A Roanoke police motorcycle officer was working traffic enforcement on State Highway 114 near Texas Motor Speedway when the officer tried to stop a speeding motorcyclist, police said. CBS News Texas reported the officer was in the area in response to 911 calls about dangerous driving.

The rider did not stop. The pursuit ended in a three-vehicle crash in the 5200 block of westbound Highway 114 near Interstate 35W, involving the police motorcycle, the rider’s 2021 Yamaha and a 2023 Ford Transit van.

Roanoke Police Chief Jeff Williams said the incident “went from a traffic stop to a chase to a crash in less than five seconds.”

The officer was taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition. The department said the officer underwent surgery for multiple broken bones and internal bleeding and remained in critical condition as of its September 22 update, with “a long road to recovery ahead.” The chief said the officer was not out of the woods but that the department was hopeful.

No officer fired a weapon. Northlake police responded to the crash scene.

The motorcyclist, Deontae Keshawn Myers, 26, of Lawton, Oklahoma, was treated at a hospital for injuries from the crash. He was taken into custody on Monday, September 21, after being released, and booked into the Denton County Jail.
