The Arlington Police Department released body-worn camera video of the September 17, 2026 officer-involved shooting at a home in the 1700 block of West Lovers Lane in Arlington, Texas. The department says the release contains relevant portions of the officers’ body-worn camera footage. This is the department’s video as released.

According to the department, officers were dispatched at 10:44 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, for a suicidal subject call. The 911 caller said a 56-year-old man in the home was making suicidal comments and had access to knives.

Four officers responded. The 911 caller met them at the front door and led them to the room the man was in. As they approached, officers heard yelling and learned a family member was in the room with him. Officers opened the door and got the family member out.

One officer then entered the room. The department says the man became upset and pulled out a large knife. The officer gave multiple commands to drop the knife and he did not comply. As the officer backed out of the room, the man came toward him still holding the knife. The officer fired his service weapon, striking him.

Officers gave first aid until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. The department says no officers and no one else in the home were injured.

Two investigations are open: a criminal investigation by the Arlington Police Homicide Unit and an administrative investigation by the Internal Affairs Unit. The department says both remain ongoing. Per department policy, all four officers were placed on administrative leave, and the department says they have since returned to work.
