A second officer, 33, was shot 12 times. That officer is hospitalized in stable condition. Commissioner Bethel said the officer is not out of the woods yet.

Officials say the suspect ran down an alleyway and fired multiple times at other officers, who were not hit. After a search and a neighborhood lockdown, the suspect was located in a tree and taken into custody.

Officers recovered two handguns and a shotgun. Bethel said one of the handguns belonged to an officer who had been shot.

Charges are pending. The suspect’s name has not been released.

Commissioner Bethel said Seiber’s wife and other family members were at his side before he died. He leaves behind a 7-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro ordered flags flown at half-staff in honor of Officer Seiber.
