The Lodi Police Department released its critical incident video of the August 24, 2026 officer-involved shooting at the McDonald’s at 200 West Lodi Avenue in Lodi, California. The release includes restaurant surveillance, the 911 call, radio traffic and body-worn camera footage. The department says the video was edited only to blur faces.

Per the department, at about 9:30 a.m. an employee walked into the restaurant’s break room and told staff to contact law enforcement. Restaurant surveillance shows him in the back storage area with the victim and another employee, where he took a handgun from his backpack and fired one round into the ceiling. An employee called 911 at about 9:32 a.m.

Officers arrived at about 9:35 a.m., entered the restaurant and began evacuating the people still inside. During that process, the suspect shot the victim. Officers moved to the rear of the business to stop the threat.

The first officer to reach him, a field supervisor and 18-year veteran of the Lodi Police Department, believed there was an imminent threat to officers and to the wounded victim. He fired his duty weapon and struck the suspect.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was treated for gunshot wounds at the scene and taken to a hospital. Officers recovered a handgun from the suspect’s hand.

The department says the investigation remains open and is being conducted under the San Joaquin County officer-involved critical incident protocol.
